Your hip is a ball and socket joint responsible for balance and stability. To warm it up before exercise, try gate swings. Stand with your feet hip width apart. Flex at the hip and pull your knee up to hip height right in front of you. Swing your leg out to your side, like a gate,then back down to the floor. Repeat on the opposite side. Try changing the direction by bringing the knee up to the side and swinging to the front. Repeat 10 times on each side in each direction.
