The Future of Veterans Treatment Courts in NYC

A discussion about The Future of Veterans Treatment Courts in NYC will be May 4, 6:30pm at NYC Bar Association. It is free and open to the public, but registration is required:

Veterans Treatment Courts are typically understood to be court-sanctioned, diversion programs for low-level legal offenders who happen to be Veterans.  New York County’s announcement and subsequent creation of a Treatment Court in 2016 means all five counties that constitute New York City have now established a Veterans Treatment Court.  This program will examine the impact of Veterans Treatment Courts on New York City’s Criminal Justice system.  Additionally, the program will examine whether any differences exist in the operation of Veterans’ Treatment Courts throughout New York City, what best practices may exist in the operation of a Veterans Treatment Court, and what lessons should be considered when establishing a Veterans Treatment Court.
