The War Horse Writing Seminar

The War Horse is a newsroom that creates urgency to address military and veterans affairs by connecting and empowering journalists, veterans, and civilians through storytelling.

Their Writing Seminar is an event, April 24-28, that brings together leading military reporters, veteran advocates, nonprofit leaders, educators, and other thought leaders to mentor and educate post-9/11 veterans and family members and help them share their stories of war and trauma. The event will be co-hosted by the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. Selection will be limited to 15 participants, with the diversity of the participants being of the utmost importance.

The five-day writing seminar is funded through a generous donation by Edelman, a leading marketing and communications firm. Attendees should expect to explore topics ranging from writing basics, such as narrative structure and word selection, to pitching a book for publication.
