Today, the Bob Woodruff Foundation (BWF) announced a total investment of $1.5 million awarded to 9 organizations with programs that serve post-9/11 veterans, service members, and their families. These grantees address the Foundation’s key focus areas of education and employment, quality of life, and rehabilitation and recovery.

“With the incredible support of our partners, both here in the US and around the world, we are proud to be leading together in support of our veterans, helping them pursue healthy lives after service in communities around the country,” said Anne Marie Dougherty, Chief Executive Officer of the Bob Woodruff Foundation.

The Spring 2019 Grant Cycle also continued our efforts as an NFL Salute To Service partner, as BWF teams up with the NFL Foundation to invest in programs that promote healthy lifestyles and foster greater community engagement with the veteran population. To date, we have provided almost $2 million dollars in NFL-BWF grants to organizations around the country.

This portfolio also includes grants made possible by the Qatar Harvey Fund. We have shaped grants to two organizations that will embark on strategic outreach in outlying counties of Hurricane Harvey-impacted Texas to identify veterans who have legal barriers to wellbeing, and who are living in substandard conditions due to the effects of the storm and require rebuilding services to recover fully.

Grants addressing education and employment needs include an investment to help ensure that national GI Bill resources have the intended outcome of educating tomorrow’s corporate and community leaders, and another grant to provide highly sought-after industrial manufacturing skills, certifications, and employment placement to veterans.

Quality of life grants include an exciting group of programs that focus on promoting healthy lifestyles and community interaction. This cohort includes both long-time and new BWF partners, with a national focus as well as those targeting specific populations from storm-impacted Puerto Rico to children receiving care at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Our investment in the area of rehabilitation and recovery will support the building of a national network of expert clinicians who supervise mental health clinicians across the country to treat PTSD with evidence-based clinical treatment.
