The Bob Woodruff Foundation has elected two new members to its board of directors, Stephen S. Crawford, chief financial officer at Capital One, and Lisa A. Pollina, vice chairman for RBC Capital Markets, a division of the Royal Bank of Canada.

Their expertise in the financial services industry complements an active board comprised of leaders in fundraising, marketing, advertising, public relations, law and accounting, with significant representation from the world of media and entertainment.

“We look forward to the leadership and support Stephen and Lisa will provide, as we build upon last year’s success and enhance our ability to find, fund and shape programs that meet the needs of today’s veterans,” said Anne Marie Dougherty, executive director of the Bob Woodruff Foundation.

The foundation, co-founded by ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff and his family after he sustained serious injuries while covering the Iraq War, is dedicated to ensuring that post-9/11 injured service members, veterans and their families are thriving long after they return home.

Stephen S. Crawford:

Crawford is responsible for managing Capital One’s global finance team and for the overall financial management of the company, including strategic and financial planning, accounting and reporting, funding and treasury operations, corporate finance, and investor relations. Capital One is a diversified financial services company with more than 65 million customer accounts worldwide, and more than 900 branch locations in New York, New Jersey, Texas, Louisiana, Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

“There is no more compelling need than supporting our veterans and no one does it better than the Bob Woodruff Foundation,” said Crawford. “I’m excited to join the Board and help further the mission and growth of this extraordinary organization.”

Crawford has more than 26 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to his current role, Crawford was the co-founder of Centerview Partners, where he provided advice and counsel to many of the most prominent financial institutions in the United States. Crawford also spent more than 20 years in various positions at Morgan Stanley. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia.

Lisa A. Pollina:

Pollina, in her role at RBC Capital Markets, is responsible for the firm’s largest financial institution clients, which span North America, Europe and Asia. Named one of the ‘Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Finance’ by American Banker magazine, she also serves as the executive sponsor for its Veterans Initiative. During her career, Pollina has negotiated and sold over $49 billion of mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and professional services agreements worldwide.

“The Bob Woodruff Foundation is the gold standard for giving to the veteran community and serving veterans is my passion,” said Pollina. “Being a part of this talented group to lead the next phase of its growth, alongside many noted business leaders, is both an honor and a responsibility.’

Pollina is also a member of the Financial Services Roundtable in Washington, D.C., where she is vice chair of the Lending and Leasing Policy Committee for the United States. She holds a Master of Business Administration from the Yale School of Management, and has taught strategy at Yale, and corporate finance at the University of Chicago.
