The Bob Woodruff Foundation (BWF) recently released a research paper detailing the significant implications of COVID-19 for veterans and military families. In addition to the health threat, this community is facing an increase in financial challenges, mental health concerns, and difficulties accessing necessary services due to the coronavirus. BWF shared these findings to ensure leaders on a national and local level have access to data-driven information to better support veterans across the country. Additionally, as the leading impact investor meeting the comprehensive needs of the post-9/11 veteran community, BWF is pivoting operations to open an expedited grant cycle to provide urgently needed support to best-in-class programs serving veterans, their families, and caregivers.

“We have worked for over a decade to support our heroes when they return home, and in the face of a global pandemic, that mission is now more important than ever,” said Anne Marie Dougherty, Chief Executive Officer of the Bob Woodruff Foundation. “Our service members, national guardsmen, reservists, veterans, military families and caregivers face several significant challenges that we uncovered through unique research. Through these expedited grants, the Bob Woodruff Foundation will help ease the burden of COVID-19 on the population we serve, and ensure they have the support they have earned at a time when they need it most.

Through this expedited grant cycle, BWF is accepting funding requests from 501(c)(3) organizations to 1) respond to the urgent COVID-19-related needs of the military/veteran population; 2) enable military/veteran-serving organizations to overcome current challenges; and/or 3) adjust service delivery to meet urgent needs of the military/veteran population.

These grants may include, but are not limited to, clinical mental health care, provided virtually; virtual peer-to-peer support and socialization opportunities; emergency financial relief; and funding to convert to virtual operations.
