National Hire a Veteran Day is on July 25! We know how important quality employment is for our veterans, so we’ve been highlighting the Bob Woodruff Foundation’s (BWF) effort in this area throughout the month. We wanted to showcase the great work our grantees and Got Your 6 local partners are doing to connect veterans with jobs that suit their skills.

Here are a few BWF grantees we would like to highlight:

Leave No Veteran Behind (LNVB). LNVB invests in Veterans to build better communities through employment training and transitional jobs. Transitional job programs provide temporary employment and support services to those who may be struggling to acquire employment. LNVB’s program allows veterans to get their foot in the door and get to work quickly, which can help increase the chances of a successful transition into civilian life.

Corporate America Supports You (CASY). CASY helps bridge the gap between employers and veteran job seekers. The average salary for those successfully placed in a job through CASY is $70k per year and 93 percent of hires stay on the job for over six months. Since 2010, CASY has claimed to have successfully facilitated 61,732 veteran hires.

FourBlockFourBlock’s top priority is to help veterans pursue long-term careers that match their calling. One of their specific focuses is on preparing student veterans for their next step. FourBlock participants have been hired at more than 500 different companies across the United States.

Got Your 6 local partners

SAVEThe SAVE organization has a different focus than most other organizations facilitating veteran employment. SAVE connects veterans in Kansas with agriculturally based careers. SAVE provides integrated therapy while also teaching valuable agricultural skills.

Operation Stand Down (OSD) TNOSD focuses on facilitating a smooth transition for Tennessee veterans. One of their initiatives has forged a partnership with a local university to help veterans received business certifications. They also work with local organizations to help connect student veterans with internships.
