The NJSOSVETS, Hudson County Suicide Prevention Coalition and the US Department of Veterans Affairs will hold a VA SAVE training session at the Edward McDowell VFW Post 2648 in North Bergen, NJ on Friday, May 27, 10am.  Audience: veterans, veteran families, veteran service providers.

Learn how to act with care and compassion if you encounter a veteran who is in crisis or experiencing suicidal thoughts.  The acronym SAVE helps you reember the important steps involved in suicide prevention:

S - Signs of suicidal thinking should be recognized

A - Ask the most important question - Are you thinking of killing yourself?

V - Validate the veteran's experience

E - Encourage treatment and Expedite getting help
