Veterans Mental Health First Aid

The Veterans Mental Health Coalition of NYC offers Veterans Mental Health First Aid on December 13, 9am-5pm.

A RAND Corp study indicates that more than half of service members returning to civilian life in New York State return with psychological injuries. Only one-third ever seek treatment.

Veterans often forsake their emotional health because other support services are at the top of their priority lists - housing, employment, legal services, and other non-mental health services. That means a majority of veterans in New York City who are suffering from behavioral health disorders are not getting the supports they need to recover.

Suicide is preventable if we can connect returning service members and veterans with appropriate care early-on.

And you don't have to be a clinician to make a difference.
Join other non-mental health providers who recognize the important role they play as gatekeepers to mental health support for service members, veterans and their families and register HERE.
