VME Connect Military Guest Speakers & Letter Writing Sessions

Veterans in Media & Entertainment presents HEALY: Welcome Aboard the Coast Guard's Polar Icebreaker in the Arctic, a Military Guest Speakers & Letter-Writing Session featuring Commander Steven Youde, Coast Guard on Wednesday, May 19th, 3pm Eastern Time/12pm Pacific Time. This is a Lunch & Learn format featuring a Military Guest Speaker sharing mission stories followed by a breakout session for writing letters.

Healy’s Mission: Each summer from June to October, the HEALY travels north to the Arctic to support the National Science Foundation in conducting scientific research. The HEALY also provides a US presence as the rich and vast resources of the Arctic are sought by Russia, China, and others.

HEALY is designed to conduct a wide range of research activities, providing more than 4,200 square feet of scientific laboratory space, numerous electronic sensor systems, oceanographic winches, and accommodations for up to 50 scientists.

At a time when interest in the Arctic Ocean basin is intensifying, HEALY substantially enhances the United States Arctic research capability and presence.

Letters Mission: Thank the Coast Guard “Coasties” crew for working long shifts in freezing weather and dangerous seas to ensure the Arctic seaways remain clear for scientists conducting research work and to escort ships needing safe passage.

Hosted by: FOX Vets with Evelyn Infante, Sue Kinzie, Nicolle Campa
