VMHC Best Practices

Over the past few years, the Department of Veterans Affairs has expanded mental health capacity to improve access to care for veterans seeking mental health services. The VA also recognizes the need and has been mandated to collaborate with community based mental health providers in order to better reach and serve veterans and their families. The downstate New York area has been at the forefront of developing these types of partnerships, which demonstrate how the VA can meet its mandate to collaborate with community based providers to improve access to care. In order to build on the achievements of these collaborations, please join the New York State Health Foundation and the VMHC on October 26 at 8:30am for a convening of community stakeholders to highlight current partnerships and outcomes already underway.

The RAND Corporation will be releasing its evaluation findings of the Unified Behavioral Health Center for Military Veterans and their Families, a partnership between Northwell Health and the Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
