Warrior Writers and Rutgers-Camden Writers House will host an Outside the Wire Virtual Retreat on Saturday, June 19, 12-6pm (Eastern Time).
Through workshops, panel discussions, exhibitions and other events, Outside the Wire explores the stories and experiences of American veterans, focusing each year on a topical theme. In 2020-21, the project focuses on the impact of service on veterans' families. As part of Outside the Wire, a multi-format humanities program highlighting veterans' narratives and experiences, the Rutgers-Camden Writers House is proud to present their first-ever virtual retreat for veterans and family members, in partnership with Warrior Writers.
This retreat features four workshops:
a generative writing workshop led by experienced Warrior Writers facilitators
a visual arts workshop
a wellness workshop
a workshop on archival skills that will invite participants to organize and tell the stories of their family artifacts.
Registering for the entire retreat will grant you access to all workshop links; you may attend as many or as few as you like. Registration is free.
Who can attend?
Any veteran or active-duty service member in any of the U.S. armed forces; any military family member. Visual arts, archives, and somatic wellness workshops are open to all ages; the writing workshop is open to participants ages fifteen and older.
