Your Brain on the Military

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum offers a presentation called Your Brain on the Military: Military Family Members on April 12, 3-5pm. The Intrepid Museum and New-York Presbyterian Military Family Wellness Center welcome current and former military service members and their family and friends for an afternoon exploring the links between military service and the brain. Hear from researchers and veterans as they unravel myths and realities about veterans and mental health.

Attend a panel discussion about the roles of military family members and caregivers during a loved one's service, deployment, and separation from the military. Panelists will discuss experiences with the family unit, military community, mental health and resources available to current military and veteran family members.

Panelists include:

Kate Springer, Ph.D., (moderator) is a post-doctoral psychology fellow at Columbia/NYSPI’s Military Family Wellness Center, where she specializes in the treatment and assessment of mood and trauma-related disorders.

Molly Pearl, LMSW, serves as the Student Veteran Advisor at Baruch College, CUNY, where she provides support, programming, and guidance for 150+ service members, veterans and family members. She is the partner and caregiver of a Post 9/11 veteran.

Marie Roker-Jones is a graduate of Fordham University and the spouse of retired New York National Guard MP. Marie and her family have experienced five year-long deployments and she understands the challenges of being an active duty military family living in a city.

This program is free with advance registration.
